Fondation Dynastie and the Conseil des arts de Montréal join forces.
Montreal, August 01, 2024 - La Fondation Dynastie , in collaboration with the Conseil des arts de Montréal, proudly present their new microprogram in literature: "À vos plumes!
Preceded by two programs in humor and audiovisual production, this new program aims to develop opportunities and skills for emerging authors and writers.
Becoming an author takes time and commitment. To support the next generation and provide them with the tools they need to succeed, this partnership is an opportunity to discover the world of publishing from a different angle.
"Currently working on my first book with a well-known publishing house, I' ve been able to discover many facets of the profession. Whether professional or amateur, making a living as an author is no easy task. That's why the creation of microprograms, like this one, is important for Fondation Dynastie. The selected candidates will get a taste of this industry and will be able to make their way in this universe " - Carla Beauvais, Director of the Fondation Dynastie
"À vos plumes: A creative program
Designed for five early-career authors with or without a published work, "À vos plumes!" is a free, paid program offered to people from Black communities, aged 18 and over. It's a unique project, with a wide range of opportunities open to participants. The lucky ones who take part will have the opportunity to undergo intensive training in writing techniques, illustration creation, publications, broadcasting and more. What's more, they'll have the chance to read an excerpt from their work in a high-profile public venue and visit a bookshop.
"Every year, the Dynasty team aims to develop programs that positively impact the community. We want to provide as many tools and resources as possible to those interested in our programs and activities. It's important to us that, at the end of each microprogram, our participants are more than satisfied with their experience." - Tracy Paulotte, Head of Programming and Outreach
With nearly 60 hours of training and mentoring from September 2024 to February 2025, participants will be able to tackle a wide range of themes: whether in the children's, narrative, theatrical or poetic genre, all types of authors and their projects are welcome to apply.
Although offered in French, the course is also open to English-speaking authors.
Please note that an information session will be held on Tuesday, August 27, 2024 by Zoom, and that the application period closes on Saturday, August 31, 2024. Selected applications will be announced between September 13 and 20, 2024, and the program launch will begin in October.
