Carla Beauvais has made diversity and inclusion her hobbyhorse. A columnist and social entrepreneur, she has been campaigning for over 20 years for better representation and emancipation of black and marginalized communities.
In 2016, she co-founded Fondation Dynastie, an organization that advocates for diversity and inclusion in the arts, culture and media. Through various cultural mediation initiatives, Fondation Dynastie addresses diversity issues and proposes actions to reduce disparities in the representation of black communities in the cultural sector. The annual Gala Dynastie celebrates the talent and excellence of artisans from Quebec's French- and English-speaking black communities.
Driven by her convictions, Carla Beauvais doesn't hesitate to use her voice to raise public awareness of diversity and inclusion issues, and to denounce social injustice. She is regularly invited to share her views on social issues and current affairs in the media. Her views and articles have been quoted or published in a number of publications, including La Presse, Journal Métro, where she was a columnist from 2018 to 2020, Le Devoir, The Gazette, The Huffington Post and others.
