Montreal, November 13, 2025 - Écho Musique welcomes special guests!
This season, Écho Musique will offer more than just workshops and training sessions. The program will open windows onto the experience, network and vision of professionals who have shaped music in Quebec and beyond. Daniel Lafrance, Anaëlle Reko and Maurin Auxéméry won't be there for the prestige: they'll be there to pass on their knowledge, concrete experience and practical advice, to help the cohort turn their ideas into real, viable projects.
Daniel Lafrance: understanding the industry from the inside
Since 1976, Daniel Lafrance has been involved in every aspect of the music industry: publisher, producer, manager, tour director... These experiences have given him an in-depth knowledge of the field, the implicit rules and the pitfalls to be avoided. His publishing house, Éditorial Avenue, is a benchmark for artists, and his nine Félix awards for Publisher of the Year bear witness to his expertise.
At Écho Musique, Daniel won't just be sharing information: he'll be telling stories. He'll share how a well-thought-out contract can save a career, why certain production choices will make a difference, and how to navigate the intricacies of copyright law. Participants will see music not only as an artistic creation, but also as a project to be structured and protected.
His workshops will alternate anecdotes, concrete examples and discussions on the day-to-day reality of an artist or publisher. For the cohort, this will be a rare chance to learn how to think of their career as a solid project, without losing their artistic identity.
Anaëlle Reko: simplifying the complex
While Daniel represents the experience and memory of the business, Anaëlle Reko brings method and clarity. For over ten years, she has been helping artists and producers to obtain grants and financing, transforming complex procedures into concrete solutions. With her foundation, Dossier Intelligent, she has helped dozens of musicians secure hundreds of thousands of dollars for their projects.
At Écho Musique, Anaëlle will show participants how to navigate the music system, identify opportunities, get around obstacles and create solid projects. She'll teach them how to plan a budget, write an effective funding application, and above all keep control of their artistic vision while meeting the demands of the milieu.
Its strength: transparency and frankness. It won't provide ready-made solutions; it will help each participant to understand the system and find his or her own answers. For the cohort, it will be a unique opportunity to transform vague ideas into concrete projects, and to understand that a musical career is built step by step, with method and rigor.
Maurin Auxéméry: the stage as a learning ground
Maurin Auxéméry is director of programming for the Francos and the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal. Born in the Gers region of France, Maurin Auxéméry has been immersed in the world of jazz festivals, and knows music in all its forms. Today, he programs some of the world's biggest jazz and francophone festivals.
With the cohort, Maurin will pass on a practical vision of the stage: how to prepare a concert, choose a repertoire, work with a technical team and offer the audience a memorable experience. But he'll go further: he'll show how every decision, from the choice of songs to the staging, can transform a show into a memorable moment.
Participants will also discover the importance of building their network, presenting their music to the right audience, and understanding the scene as a space for exchange and visibility. Maurin will help artists position themselves, seize opportunities and prepare for a competitive environment, while remaining true to their artistic identity.
Why these mentors will make the difference
Daniel, Anaëlle and Maurin won't just be imparting knowledge: they'll be offering perspectives, tools and advice to help the cohort move from idea to real project. Their role will go beyond teaching: they will help young artists understand the environment, anticipate difficulties, make informed decisions and build their careers with confidence.
Through anecdotes, case studies and personalized exchanges, each meeting will become a source of inspiration and concrete learning. Participants won't just listen: they'll experiment, question and apply what they learn directly to their own projects.
Écho Musique's strength lies in this unique blend of hands-on workshops, experienced mentors and advice tailored to the realities of the field. Thanks to Daniel, Anaëlle and Maurin, artists will have every chance of turning their passion into a sustainable career, with a solid foundation, an active network and a clear vision of their career path.
