Dive in the world of comedy and what goes on behind the scenes by discovering the different jobs available in this industry. 

Define your comedic style with the idea of creating a hilarious act by teaming up with dedicated teachers and mentors who will accompany you throughout your training. 

At the end of the session, you'll have the chance to shine on stage in a comedy show in front of an audience that can't wait to laugh!

Target audience

Candidates aged 18 and over. Experienced or novice aspiring comedians with a work permit or Canadian resident status.

Training
  • A 9-week short program: one day a week, every Saturday

Benefits
  • The chance to win a scholarship for an evening course at the École nationale de l'humour.
  • Successful completion of this microprogram gives all participants access to a Level 2 evening course at the École nationale de l'humour.
  • The opportunity for one participant to perform at the Just for Laughs Festival in summer 2024. The comedian will be chosen at the end-of-training show.
Eligibility criteria
  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Identifying as a person from a black community
  • Possess a work permit or Canadian resident status
  • Be available to actively participate in the 9-week short program
  • Ability to follow courses in French
  • Be willing to work in a team, receive constructive criticism, and develop your comedic skills by actively attending classes and participating in program activities.
  • Be ready to perform in public at the program's final show, where you'll be evaluated by professionals from the comedy industry.
To submit your application

Step 1: Register!

It's time to fill in the registration form. Be creative and share your motivations.


Step 2: Introduce yourself!

In the registration form, you must submit a video. This is your chance to shine! Tell us about yourself, your background, what made you want to become a comedian, what makes you unique, and why you want to join our program.


Step 3: Confirm your registration

Once you've submitted the form, you'll receive a confirmation e-mail to make sure your application has been received.


Step 4: Evaluating your application

Once you've submitted your application, our team will carefully review all the details you've shared. We'll also evaluate your comedy skills, enthusiasm, creativity and passion for becoming a comedian. We're looking for candidates who are ready to commit themselves fully to this program. Rest assured that we take the time to analyze each application carefully.


Step 5: Update your registration

We'll keep you informed of the progress of your application by e-mail. Selected candidates will be contacted by telephone between January 15 and 24, 2024. Stay tuned!
