A powerful return: The Sommet Dynastie and the 2025 Gala Dynastie illuminate Black excellence

8/5/2025

From April 22 to 26, 2025, the Fondation Dynastie once again brought together the dynamic forces of Quebec's Black communities for two key events that left a lasting impact: the Sommet Dynastie and the Gala Dynastie. Together, these two gatherings provided a platform to reflect on, celebrate, and amplify Black cultures, with boldness, intelligence, and style.

A Sommet  anchored in today's Issues

For its second edition, the Sommet Dynastie unfolded over two days at 8 Queen Street under the theme of creativity and innovation. The program featured a series of panels, conferences, workshops, and reflection spaces, bringing together over 200 participants who gathered to inform, reflect, create, and network together.

As artificial intelligence, augmented reality, and digital platforms redefine the rules of the game, the Sommet aimed to offer a space to explore and reflect on the ongoing transformations in the creative industries. More than just an event, it was an invitation to co-construct the ecosystems of tomorrow, rethink economic models, and highlight the richness of Black narratives in all their diversity.

Since its creation in 2022, the Sommet Dynastie has been a space for collective transformation that has continued to evolve into an essential platform for reflection, action and networking. In particular, it made its mark with the publication of the Black Booka manifesto committed to greater equity in cultural circles.

Building on the success of this second edition, the Fondation Dynastie is already looking ahead to the next one. Stay tuned for the 3rd edition of the Sommet Dynastie in 2026, which promises to continue this dynamic of innovation and inclusion in the creative and cultural industries.

A grand celebration at the heart of Place des Arts

On April 26, 2025, all eyes were on Place des Arts for the 9th edition of the Gala Dynastie. In a Théâtre Maisonneuve packed to capacity, the Fondation Dynastie rolled out the black carpet to highlight the excellence and talent of Black individuals working in the arts, culture, and media sectors in Quebec.

Hosted with flair, humor, and style by Garihanna Jean-Louis, the evening was filled with laughter, gratitude, pride, and standing ovations. Over 87 finalists competed across various categories, ranging from music and literature to performing arts, cinema, radio, television, and journalism.

Beyond the trophies awarded, the Gala offered vibrant performances, touching tributes, and powerful speeches on the importance of recognition, visibility, and equity. It reminded everyone that these artists, journalists, producers, and creators do not ask for permission to exist: they take up space with strength and deserve to be celebrated as they should.

With over 1,100 attendees, a carefully crafted set design, a festive atmosphere, and a production level worthy of the biggest cultural events, the 2025 Gala Dynastie confirmed its status as a must-attend event, not only for the Black community but for all of Quebec.

This reflection on these events would not be complete without emphasizing that the Sommet and Gala are the visible showcases of the foundational work that the Fondation Dynastie carries out year-round: training, equipping, connecting, and elevating talent from Black communities. Through its programs, collaborations, and constant commitment, the Fondation is building the conditions for an inclusive and equitable cultural future.

In 2025, more than ever, the Fondation Dynastie asserts its role: to be a driver of change, an open stage, and a sounding board for stories, projects, and journeys that deserve to be heard and supported.

As the Gala Dynastie heads toward its 10th edition, the stage is set for a decade of celebrating Black excellence, with the promise of even more inspiring and memorable moments.
