KANAVAL - A film by Henri Pardo
A special screening presented by Cinéma Public in collaboration with Fondation Dynastie
In the mid-70s, Rico, a 9-year-old Haitian boy, is abruptly uprooted from his native land and propelled with Erzulie, his mother, to a strange planet called Canada. Since their arrival, a distance seems to have grown between mother and son.
To win back his mother's love, Rico will have to get to grips with this New World populated by people with strange habits and customs. Fortunately, he can count on Kana, his imaginary friend straight from Haitian mythology.
Discussion moderated by Tracy Paulotte, with Henri Pardo and Jean Jean following the July 06 screening.
